I recently got to 240 (with a couple seconds at 244) while towing a heavy trailer uphill on the interstate in 89F weather - 4000 rpm in 3rd at 55 mph. So yeah, 250 isn’t normal. WebUnhooked temperature sensor at cylinder head. (One for the temperature gauge) grounded the the circuit. With switch on temperature pegged all the way hot (260 +) so I know gauge is capable of going higher. New temperature sensor and still reads about 160 ish. Has new 195 degree thermostat. Used to read about 200 degrees or so.

Then leaving work this evening before I started the car, engine temp was 8 and external temperature was 7. So normal this evening and way off in the morning? Adding coolant to the reservoir is straight forward, no need to add to radiator itself. Gluck, its an easy fix! A. WebDec 4, 2008 · The gauge measures the coolant temperature, thus no coolant, no temperature. The engine will melt before the temp gauge gets hot. Diagnosis of the wiring and sending unit from the manual. I can't give a better description of the sending unit other than it's on top of the engine, under the plastic cover. It's a post sticking up with a wire on it.

The temps of the water jackets and block in general is on the other side (below) the stats. One for the ECU and one for the dash. Some have one at the thermostat and one in the radiator. I know mine has two, Z18xe. The temp gauge is usually designed to sit bang in the middle once warmed up.
