[1] The parish Church of the Virgin Mary and St. Andrew and 400 acres of local land also belonged to the priory, which thrived until the 16th century, in spite of the depredations of marauding Scots. [2] WebMarrick Moor rises to 435 metres at its south western extremity, above Fremington Edge. The Edge drops steeply at first over a band of limestone cliffs, but then falls more gently before reaching the Arkengarthdale Valley floor. All of the southern and western sides of Marrick Moor are pockmarked with scores of disused mine shafts and quarries.
