The 235 six volt system has 139 teeth for the flywheel and 168 for 12 volt but do the different starters have the same number of teeth or are they different and if so what are the number of teeth on them any help on this matter would be great thanks. skiter1961, Sep 3, 2010. With a mix and match like that the only way to know for sure is to count the teeth on the starter ring. If it is for sure a 65 flywheel it would have been a 157. I think the 164's came out around 1969 ...

If they are straight across and of different lengths, then the flexplate is a small one, 153-teeth, 12 3/4 inch diameter. If the bolts are of the same length and staggered, then the flexplate is a large one.

If you use an FE flywheel on a 460 just use an FE starter drive and if using a 460 flywheel on an FE use the 460 starter drive. Just remember that 79 and newer 460 uses an externally balanced flywheel that does not interchange. I think that does it.
